CESC Saint-Martin and SER Sint Maarten: First Joint Meeting and Workshop

Saint-Martin, December 5, 2025

The Economic, Social and Cultural Council of Saint-Martin (CESC) welcomed, for the first time, a delegation from the Socio-Economic Council of Sint Maarten (SER). Composed of the SER Sint Maarten president, Mr. Harlec DORAN, board members, and a political adviser of the SER, the delegation met with CESC president Ida ZIN-KA-IEU and several Council members for an introductory exchange aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two consultative bodies of the island.

This first meeting made it possible to present the missions, roles and operational frameworks of both institutions, to compare their respective structures and to address the socio-economic challenges common to the island. As part of this session, the CESC organised a dedicated workshop inspired by its CESC en Plein'Air initiative, the conclusions of which were publicly presented at a meeting on November 21, 2025.

Members of the SER delegation actively participated in discussions on three key themes identified as priorities on both sides of the island:

• Living decently from one's work

• Solidarity and civil society

• Peace in the world

The contributions gathered during this workshop will be integrated into the local report that the CESC will publish in January 2026, enriching collective reflection with binational perspectives.
